Pros/Cons of using Alexa toolbar

Well i have heard the following

1 - If you install it. you site rank on Alexa will go up. Currently my site is around a 82k rank.

2- However if you remove the toolbar you rank on Alexa will get worse by a big margin.

is the above true?

I don't think 1 person removing the toolbar will hurt your rating. Its definitely best for all webmasters to have it installed so you can help your rating every last bit but I'm not sure 1 more user is going to make your rating rise or fall dramatically.

what i said above is what i heard for webmasters who added or removed the toolbar not site visitors

But to alexa, the site's webmaster and the regular users are all the same. Or am I not understanding what you mean?

you understood correctly
what i said about is what i heard from webmasters not users because they dont care about that

but question remains
does adding it help a ton
does removing help hurt you

I personally hate Alexa. "Install our toolbar and we'll rank your site higher" is just assinine.

it should not be that way but
installing the tool bar took a few seconds and its benefiting my site and forum

if something is good for my site and forum then i like it

But what other way is there to really rank sites? They can only collect data from those providing it.

google does not require help from users to determine page rank

Nothing is perfect but alexa is the best we have so far. I think at this point that more than enough people use Alexas toolbar to make it pretty accurate as a whole which is enough persuasion for me to utilize it.
