**Read First: Information To Have Prepared and Questions To Ask**

If you're posting in this forum chances are good you're looking to have some vBulletin work completed for your site of some sorts, and this is by far the best and probably most secure site to find someone to do it.

However, your personal information security should always be of concern and therefore we've put together a list of information you should be expecting to give out so you can, Have it ready, and know what its used for.

================================================== =========
95% of the time, you'll need to give some level of FTP access to the server. This is to upload files, images, movies or whatever you need added.

If upgrading/installing vBulletin you must give at least your vBulletin.com/members customer number. This number is required by vBulletin to perform upgrades and new installations. You can usually email the coder, your vBulletin package and not give out your password!

AdminCP Access with Control over the sections they are working in, if not just access to everything. You can create additional administrators and then assign permissions to certain sections if you feel your coder doesn't need to access a certain section. You can do this from AdminCP -> UserGroups -> Administrator Permissions

Be prepared to pay a deposit sometimes. Some coders will ask for a certain % up front, some won't. You should be prepared to just in case, and try to be flexible as possible with the payment option as some coders can't accept paypal.

================================================== ============

You should also have a firm understanding of exactly what you're going to be getting performed. Here are some questions you should ask your coder before agreeing to anything.

1. How long do you think this will take?
2. What payment methods can you accept?
3. How much are you going to charge for this?
4. What exactly am I going to get for that price?
5. Are there any other methods I can contact you at (instant messenger, email, phone)?
6. Do you backup the database before making any changes?

And ask any other questions you feel you should ask! Questions are generally answered for free, and most coders don't have a problem with any question even if you think its the dumbest question on earth to us!

================================================== =========

Following these simple tips can help prevent any communication failures or confusion and should help make everyones transactions as smooth as possible!
