What is the first thing you notice when visiting a new forum? For me, it’s the vBulletin skin they are using, and any customizations that have been done to distinguish it from the thousands and thousands of other vBulletin forums on the net. We have some free vBulletin skins available for download in the forums, and I’ve seen some people really take some time and customize those skins to death. They will still be recognizable as being one of the free vBulletin skins that you can download almost everywhere. The best thing to do IMO is getting a full on custom skin, this can be rather expensive but well worth in the end. Another thing you can do is get a paid skin and customize it. These aren’t as know as the free vBulletin skins, and less likely that your guest have seen it on another forum.
